Major emphasis of study will focus on continuing skill development, conceptual understanding and aesthetic appreciation needed to perform selected literature. Activities will include rehearsals, concerts, festivals, etc. As an advanced placement music course, the focus will be on cooperative learning as well as individualized instruction, student leadership, musical evaluation through ensemble performance, individual solo performance, written critiques, and a written comprehensive examination covering musical terms and theoretical concepts.</p><p>FIRST NINE WEEKS GRADE: ______</p><p>Student Objectives/Skills</p><p>______Perform a chromatic scale according to the FBA All-State requirements.</p><p>______Perform all major scales and arpeggios according to the FBA All-State requirements.</p><p>______Perform an approved appropriate exercise developed for the advanced student.</p><p>______Attend and critique, in writing, an outside musical performance approved by the instructor.</p><p>SECOND NINE WEEKS GRADE: ______</p><p>Student Objectives/Skills</p><p>______Perform the following harmonic minor scales and arpeggios one octave in the same manner as the major scales: c, g, d.</p><p>______Attend and critique, in writing, an outside musical performance approved by the instructor.</p><p>______Choose solo literature and begin preparing for the evaluation/assessment listed under “Third Nine Weeks.” LCHS HONORS BAND V-VI 2012-13 SYLLABUS (p. 2)</p><p>THIRD NINE WEEKS GRADE: ______</p><p>Student Objectives/Skills</p><p>______Demonstrate the ability to successfully perform on his/her major instrument grade 4+ literature as a soloist at the FBA Solo & Ensemble District Music Performance Assessment. Grading would reflect the evaluation.</p><p>______Attend and critique, in writing, an outside musical performance approved by the instructor.</p><p>______Select a topic for the 800-word paper and provide a list of 10 properly cited resource materials to the instructor. </p><p>FOURTH NINE WEEKS GRADE: ______</p><p>Student Objectives/Skills</p><p>______Attend and critique, in writing, an outside musical performance approved by the instructor.</p><p>______Complete an 800-word paper on a major composer.
