<p> Acadia Youth Choir January 25, 2000</p><p>PREPARATION FOR REHEARSAL: Make sure the phone trees are copied for each member of the class. Chairs need to be put out but students will pick up their own score. Make sure that all the extra pencils are sharpened. *Give out letters to students who were absent last Tuesday.</p><p>Warm up 3:45-4:00 - Kay</p><p>The Quilt (3:55-4:10) Ruth Goals: 1. To review the melody from measure 9-34 . 2. To check the rhythms in this section using demonstrating the difference between straight rhythms and syncopated rhythms just using the text. 3. To mark in the high points of the phrases.</p><p>Hope – 900 Purple Stones (410-4:25) Georgette</p><p>Sectionals (4:25-4:45) Alto: 1. Review the alto line in the Chorus of the “Blackbird”. Sing through the last verse – attention to mm63-68) Dana & Kay (accompany) 2.Work the alto line from measure 10-18; 22-27; Rehearse each part separately and then run from the beginning. Georgette</p><p>Soprano: 1. Blackbird: Review verse two with attention to the dotted eighth note rhythms Introduce verse two – attention to mm63-68) Krista Take out several students to work on descant part Erin & Julie 2. Can You Hear Me? Breathe marks will have been marked up to measure 21; run from mm22-27. Watch tied note. Continue mm.30-41.</p><p>Break: (4:45-5:00) *Ask students to meet with their section leader – share the three facts that were to be remembered from the last rehearsal. Give out the phone tree to students. Tell them about the round or partner song that the small group will be working on for the Saturday rehearsal.</p><p>5:00-5:15 Sing through Blackbird verse two and the parts in Can You Hear Me</p><p>MUSICAL LEARNINGS FOR NEXT WEEK  Write four measures in ¾ time using quarter notes, eighth notes and Half notes.</p><p>The Quilt - 5:05-5:10 Goal: 1. To introduce the song and talk about the significance of the quilt in earlier periods of Nova Scotia – what does that say about family. Procedure: Listen to the Donna/Wendy/Andy recording of this song. Have students follow along as they listen. Sing the first four phrases with the student conductors asking students to note where there were breathes taken and where there was a need to stagger the breathing.</p><p>HAND OUT THE LETTERS TO GO HOME WITH SCHEDULE, SCHOLARSHIP FORMS, AND REVIEW PROCEDURES FOR ABSENSES. </p>
