ANURADHAPURA Case No. B 843/06</p><p>Forwarding consolidated report by senior assistant government analyst P.G. Madawela and Deputy Government Analyst W.D.G.S. Goonetilleke on the contents of unnumbered parcel dated 4 Oct. 2006 sent by Magistrate, Anuradhapura Magistrate Court (the parcel was not marked but was sealed, the seal was in good condition and the seal is similar to the ‘sample’ seal sent). </p><p>The Parcel Contained </p><p>P1 - P 16 7.62 x 39 mm Spent Bullets</p><p>Page 2</p><p>P 17 - P 30 7.62 x 39 mm Spent Bullets</p><p>P 31 - P 37 Distorted Cartridges</p><p>P 38 - P41 Centres of Distorted Cartridges</p><p>P42 - P 43 Spent Bullets</p><p>Compared and Examined P1 - P30 spent bullets (30) with the (gun/ firearm) markings on two unspent bullets P42 and P 43 i. The firearm markings on the 13 spent bullets P2, P3, P4,P6,P8,P12, P27, P20, P23, P24, P27, P28 AND P30 match each other; ii. The firearm markings on the 12 spent bullets P5, P9, P10, P11, P14, P15, P16, P19, P21, P25, P29 and P 43 match each other</p><p>PAGE 3 (SOMETHIGN INDISTINCT AT THE TOP BUT I THINK IT MAY BE BAD PHOTOCOPYING POSSIBLY) iii. The firearm markings on the 3 spent bullets P18,P22 and P42 match each other</p><p>It is my view that the firing of the bullets was:</p><p>The thirteen spent bullets P2, P3, P4, P6, P8, P12, P17, P20, P23, P24, P27, P28 AND P 30 by one firearm</p><p>The twelve spent bullets P5, P9, P10, P11, P14, P15, P16, P19, P21, P25, P29 AND P 43 by one firearm,</p><p>The three spent bullets P18, P22 AND P 42 by one firearm.</p><p>The four Spent Bullets P1, P7, P13 AND P 26 are rusted and not in a suitable condition for comparing the firearm markings</p><p>The 7 distorted cartridges P 31 - P 37 are rusted and the firearm markings are considerably distorted and not in a fit condition for purposes of comparing firearm markings</p><p>By weight, size and shape, the 7 distorted cartridges P 31 - P 37 conform to standard 7.62 x 39 mm bullet cartridges</p><p>By weight, size and shape, the 4 distorted centres of cartridges P 38 - P 41 conform to standard 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge centres signed ...... </p><p>II. Items Retrieved from the 2nd Post Mortem</p><p>1,4,8,9, 10 "vikurthi voo", i.e., damaged/ distorted bullets</p><p>2. part of a case of a damaged/ distorted bullet</p><p>3,5 damaged/ distorted piece of metal</p><p>6. damaged/distorted, case of a bullet</p><p>7. middle/core of a damaged/disorted bullet.</p><p>The analysis says:</p><p>Items 1,4,8,9,10 (all bullets) - examined four right leaning marks on them</p><p>---</p><p>PAGE 2 ANALYSIS CONTD</p><p>In my opinion, items 1,4,8,9, 10 bullets/ cartridges have been fired with either one or several guns (he has used the phrase "rel" which seems to indicate a kind of gun that fires repeatedly but I don’t know what this particular gun is) with a right leaning four tipped top.</p><p>But, items 1,4,8,9,10 which are distorted/damaged bullets from a gun that has been fired are rusted so it is not possible to use them for "comparison" purposes.</p><p>By weight, quantity and shape, items 1,4,8,9,10 are consistent with a bullet from a standard 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge</p><p>By weight quantity and shape, item 7 is consistent with the core/middle of a standard bullet from a 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge</p><p>By weight, quantity and shape, item 6 is consistent with the standard case of a bullet from a 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge.</p>
