<p>IB1 Psychology Sociocultural Level of Analysis. </p><p>An investigation into the origins of - and explanation for- prejudice and discrimination.</p><p>Subject: Group Members:------</p><p>Aims: We are going to investigate and report on prejudice and discrimination and how these can be challenged and combated.</p><p>1. Form a group of 4 or 5. 2. Choose one of the focuses for this subject. 3. Read the chapter on Prejudice in the Course Companion. 4.3 Pages 128- 135, also the additional information given to you.</p><p>The Task: You are going to plan, create and make a 10-15 minute TV programme about prejudice and discrimination.</p><p>In your film you should investigate: (Many of these may overlap)</p><p> Competing definitions of prejudice and discrimination. The origins of prejudice. Prejudice and discrimination as cultural constructs How prejudice and discrimination can effectively be challenged and reduced.</p><p>Use the Course Companion and the articles/packs I will give you as a starting point, but you should include THREE other studies or articles that are not in the CC.</p><p>Have a look at the Psychology magazines in the library. Also check out the BBC.co.uk website for reports on recent studies to get you started. </p><p>Your TV Programme:</p><p>It can be a report, a film, an undercover investigation, an interview, a studio debate, a mixture of all these. Something different.</p><p>Remember that you need evidence from at least 6 empirical studies. These can be delivered by experts in the form of interviews, by a voice over etc. Assessment Criteria:</p><p>1. Consideration of how complex these issues might be. Are they easy to define? Why? Why not? Where do prejudice and discrimination come from? Are they inevitable? 10</p><p>2. Detailed exploration of your group’s particular focus. 20</p><p>3. Cultural variations. Are there cultural differences? If so, what are there and why are there differences? 10</p><p>4. Analysis of at least 6 empirical studies, supporting your ideas in 1, 2 and 3. 20</p><p>5. Use of evidence from at least three additional sources other than the CC and the pack provided by Ms J. 10</p><p>6. Your conclusion. 10</p><p>7.
