My name is Cameron Cole and I’ve always wanted to make a difference in this world. These are some of my inspirations:

Stephanie Taylor is eleven years old. Stephanie read about a police dog who was shot and killed, while chasing a suspect. This made her very sad. She wondered if he would still be alive, if he had been wearing a bullet-proof vest. She found out that they cost $475 each. She set out to raise enough money for one. She ended up raising enough for the six police dogs in her town. Then she raised enough for all the police dogs in San Diego County. She is now spreading the program across the country because, “We need to protect these dogs; they protect us.”

At the age of twelve, Brita Thomas wondered why a friend of hers always sat out during gym class. Then she realized her friend’s shoes were too worn for class. She decided to solve the problem. She used her allowance money to buy the girl a new pair of shoes. Brita thought that if this girl needed shoes, probably lots of other kids did, too. She and her Mother talked with school officials and they were all surprised to find that thousands of kids in the area needed shoes. Brita let her 4-H club know about the problem and they started “Happy Feet”. They have tried to let everyone know about “Happy Feet”. They have written letters, been in the newspaper, on the radio and T.V. Because of Brita, “Happy Feet” has raised over $25,000.

Taylor C. is 11 years old. She wanted to give every child that had cancer a hug. One of her grandmother’s died from cancer. Another grandmother had survived cancer. This inspired her to raise enough money to buy teddy bears for every child. She decided to make hair clips and sell them. In four years, she has given away over 17,500 teddy bears. “The bears help kids get through the bad times”, she explains. She even has her own web site.

I hope that one day I can be like these kids and make a difference in the world. Young ones can make a difference, as shown by these examples. If we all work together, we can change the world!
