Write in MLA format. After reading the information on the back page, look carefully at the way the information is typed (formatted); MLA (Modern Language Association) requires specific ways of presenting information, such as:  Type in only Times New Roman, size 12; the entire page is double spaced – no where on the page is there an extra line!  All 4 margins are 1” (you will probably need to reset your margins as default margins are often set at 1.25 inches)  The title (Annotated Bibliography: Unit I) is centered (note: no extra space before or after the title)  On the first page of all writing (and ONLY on the first page), on the left margin the heading is student’s name, teacher’s name, class, date. All is double spaces with no extra lines after it.  When you are setting up your page, make sure you go to “Page Layout” and set all 4 boxes at 0 (do not leave any number or even “auto” in one of the boxes. (If you do not have all boxes at 0, there will be a 3rd line left between paragraphs, between title and paper, before time, after heading – and you will lose points.)  Each annotation for an internet site must include the following: Author(s). “Title of Article.” Title of Journal. Volume. Issue (year): pages. <electronic address>.  Sample Entry: (note: the 1st line of the bibliography info is a full line, if the bibliography entry needs a 2nd line, that 2nd line is indented 2 tabs. Each bibliography entry always ends with a period.) Annotation section starts on a new line after bibliography. ______

James Smith

Honors World Literature (1st)

Mrs. Coane

April 17, 2013

Annotated Bibliography: Ancient Literature of Greece – Oedipus Rex

Lamott, Anne. Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life. New York Times:< http://www .

birds/lifeinwild/lamott.html>.

Lamott's book offers honest advice on the nature of a writing life, complete with its insecurities and failures. Taking a humorous approach to the realities of being a writer, the chapters in Lamott's book are wry and anecdotal and offer advice on everything from plot development to jealousy, from perfectionism to struggling with one's own internal critic. In the process, Lamott includes writing exercises designed to be both productive and fun. Lamott offers sane advice for those struggling with the anxieties of writing, but her main project seems to be offering the reader a reality check regarding writing, publishing, and struggling with one's own imperfect humanity in the process. Rather than a practical handbook to producing and/or publishing, this text is indispensable because of its honest perspective, its down-to-earth humor, and its encouraging approach.
