<p> QUALITY..... Heals systems</p><p>?did you notice that quality professionals are system physicians?, how</p><p> what clinicians do to cure patients is much like what quality professionals do to cure .... systems</p><p> as a quality professional you start taking personal history of the organization "its Mission , "Vision and values</p><p> then you start taking past history , what are the previous problems that happened with the organization systems</p><p> then you will go with complaint and present history: what is the current problem ? when it started ? for how long? what is its magnitude? that what we call as quality professionals : ""problem statement</p><p> when you reach the stage of examination and investigation you will use many quality tools to help you diagnose the system problem like "Flow chart" "Root Cause Analysis " ,"Statistical process control" and many other quality tools</p><p> quality tools are very good diagnostic tools and when you are not using them in solving any system problem you are just doing what clinicians do when they treat their patient empirically , you are having the risk of making this problem a chronic one , although it might .. solve the problem but it is still "Empirical" like just if cause not known , give cortisone</p><p> and here you are at the stage of treatment after you know well what is the problem , its course and causes you are ready to start treating it , here you can use action planning or Gantt chart to plan your "care plan" : treatment remedy and steps and you can use check , lists to monitor your treatment progress</p><p> of course like humans some systems are not compliant with treatment and need more efforts to get them stick to the treatment plan , and much like humans the degree of compliance with treatment is dependent on to which extent did you share patients/ systems in developing their own care plan</p><p> and the question arises what is the role of Accreditation? accreditation is like full medical check that clinicians advise patients to do every now and then , it helps quality professionals . to find the problem easily and helps the organization to keep the system healthy</p><p>Dr.Mohamed Elfaiomy</p><p> quality and performance improvement consultant</p><p>NOV. 2012</p>
