Our prayers, but especially Holy Mass, assist those who have passed on attain heaven. Also since its earliest days, the Church has offered Mass for the intentions of the living, especially the sick. Many of you ask for Masses to be said regularly for deceased loved ones, and some ask that these Masses be offered on specific dates. Your special requests will be honored to the extent possible and we do our best to accommodate you, but we ask for your patience and understanding in this regard. Scheduling begins in late October so it is important that if you have not submitted your requests, please do so this week. If you would like to be informed of the dates and times of your scheduled Masses, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope, a phone number or email address. </p><p>Offertory Update - For the month of August 2016, offertory contributions were $48,054.08 which was $1945.92 under budget. The same time period – August 2015, contributions were $36,450.12. Year to date (fiscal year started in July 2016) actuals were $96,938.04 which was $3061.96 under budget. The same time frame in 2015 - actual totals were $77,856.62. Thank you for your support.</p><p>SPONSORS/GODPARENTS To be a godparent for Baptism, a person must be 16 years or older and a practicing and fully initiated Catholic, having completed the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. If married, the union must be recognized by the Catholic Church. One Catholic godparent is required; 2 godparents (one male & one female) is the ordinary and recommended practice. Keep in mind the purpose of a sponsor is to give good example and support in the Catholic faith of the baptized. Documentation of eligibility for all Catholic godparents are required from the Catholic Church where they are registered and attend weekly mass.
