<p> Play Critique Written Format</p><p>Directions: Your critique must be a five paragraph essay. Each of the paragraph’s content is explained below.  The essay should be TYPED, however, if this is not possible then it must be done in black ink or blue ink with no scratched out words.  The title of the play is your heading.  Your name and the current date are to go in the upper right corner.  IN the upper left corner you should indicate, whether you saw the play or read it; if you saw the play you must include the theatre you saw it in and the date you saw it.  Your program and ticket stub should be stapled to the critique.  Your critique should be at least 250 words in length- remember that detail and specific examples from the play are essential in backing up your criticism of the play.</p><p>Paragraph Content:</p><p>1. This paragraph should contain the basic story synopsis or plot: where the play takes place, the setting of the play, when the play takes place, the year and/or time of year, who are the main characters, and an outline of the action of the play. 2. This paragraph should be a character profile of two-four main characters in the play: age, physical descriptions, relationships, personality traits, mannerisms, what they want, and any other important information. 3. This paragraph should identify the main conflict of the play: what is the problem, who is affected, and how it is resolved. Also include whether or not the resolution is believable or not and why. 4. This paragraph should identify the weakest and strongest aspects of the play: give several reasons for your choices and back them up with specific examples from the production. 5. This paragraph is your overall judgment of the play: was it worthwhile? Did it make you think? Would you recommend it to your friends and family? Were the characters and/or situation believable?</p>
