
<p> New for 2017! </p><p>UNDERSTANDING OPPOSITIONAL BEHAVIOR IN THE PRE-K TO 12 CLASSROOM</p><p>Presenter: Colleen Goot, School Psychologist</p><p>Place: Teacher Center Classroom</p><p>Date: Two Saturdays, March 11 and 25, 2017</p><p>Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. each session</p><p>Credit: One in-service credit or 16 Professional Development hours</p><p>This course, which was last offered in 2012, will examine the many oppositional behaviors present in the classroom in order to help teachers develop practical strategies in identifying and managing disruptive behavior. Teacher participation in role-play as well as active involvement in discussions will enhance teachers’ understanding and ability to implement effectively several strategies in their classrooms. </p><p>Through hands-on practice and independent research, teachers will evaluate a variety of online websites such as TedTalks and EngageNY, as well as examine Response to Intervention (R.T.I.) and behavior plan strategies to support the oppositional students. </p><p>Upon completion of the course, teachers will be able to </p><p> Implement research-based strategies to support oppositional students in the classroom Design a student behavior plan that meets R.T.I. guidelines.</p><p>This course is appropriate for Pre-K through grade 12 staff</p><p>There are two ways to register:</p><p>1.
