1St Alpha Orlando

1st – Alpha Orlando

2nd – Alpha London

3rd – Alpha Ft. Lauderdale

4th – Alpha WDC

5th – Alpha Cleveland

Alpha Orlando – I ranked Orlando first in the pack due to the content of the video critique. They completed their thoughts and analyzed the article well. This was evident in how they commented on what the author’s goals might have been in writing the article and how she was getting in over her head. Also they commented that the article sounded like a rough draft and wasn’t fully completed. The color in the presentation was bright, and the audio was clear. At times the speaker spoke quickly making the words hard to differentiate. Also, the speech was obviously unnatural. For example “We agreed on this about the article. The article was…” That could’ve been edited before recording it or perhaps after listening to it.

Alpha London – London had another great presentation. The speaker’s voice is at a great volume, and she spoke clearly and naturally for the most part. The group made some valid points especially with retention and focusing on customers as leading to business success. The quote at the end did add to the presentation and ended it on a high note. Some of the wording on a couple of the charts was distorted and impossible to read. There was some summarizing. They defined “maturity” as opposed to commenting on how the author’s definition of “maturity” made the article clear or not.

Alpha Ft. Lauderdale – The speaker spoke confidently and naturally which was a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the others. He did seem to be reading straight off of a lot of the slides. These slides were wordy at times. The group’s content wasn’t as strong as some of the others. It seemed as if they agreed almost entirely with the article. More thought could’ve been put into looking at it from a different perspective.

Alpha Cleveland – I especially liked how at the beginning of the presentation, the speaker engaged the viewer with a question. This prompted the viewer to listen and pay attention. I found the presentation lacking in number of slides, color, pictures, content, etc. Also, some main critique points weren’t addressed such as readability and final thoughts.

Alpha WDC – This presentation was very professional, and I really noticed a huge improvement on this one from the prior weeks. Some strong points were made. One stuck out in my mind when they mentioned that people don’t always have shared values. The reason I ranked this team last was due to the summary portion taking up almost the first three minutes of the critique. It does provide a foundation for the presentation, but the point is to critique the article and not summarize it for that long. Also, the audio was full of background static and noise. They probably are not using a microphone. There were also some awkward pauses during the presentation which were distracting.
