<p> Saving to Excel</p><p>Saving DSS data to an Excel spreadsheet makes it possible to save a record of the data at a particular point in time, or to perform complex calculations on the DSS data using the functions available in Excel.</p><p>The following walkthrough will show you how to save a report to Excel. Financial data in the spreadsheet will not be automatically updated by the DSS when data cubes are refreshed. Also, data saved to Excel cannot be drilled into for more details.</p><p>SCENARIO</p><p>You need to save the current data in a DSS report for future use. You decide to save the data to an Excel spreadsheet named Class2. Walkthrough: Saving to Excel Walkthrough Objectives:</p><p> Save the DSS data to Excel.</p><p> View the data in Excel.</p><p> Close Excel.</p><p>D:\Docs\2018-01-01\02afadba35c23609ab83f1bcc51d49eb.docPage 1 of 6 To save the report to Excel:</p><p>1. While in PowerPlay, open the report you wish to save. Then click on File on the menu bar. </p><p>Excel File Type</p><p>2. Click on Save As from the File drop-down menu. </p><p>3. In the Save As dialogue box, type Class2 in the File name box.</p><p>4. Click on the down arrow beside the Save as type.</p><p>5. Click on Excel files (*.xls) to select it from the Save as type field in the Save As dialog box.</p><p>Note that a delimited ASCII format is also available.</p><p> Depending upon your LAN configuration, you may be limited to an 8-character file name for your report.</p><p> Select the c:\ncasdss\custom directory from the list box, or whatever directory has been set up as the default for custom reports.</p><p>6. Click on the OK button.</p><p>To open the Excel spreadsheet:</p><p>9. Click on the Start button on the Windows taskbar.</p><p>10. Position the cursor over Programs from the Start menu.</p><p>11. Select the default directory for custom reports and files, usually c:\ncasdss\custom, then select your file. </p><p>14. Click on the (c:) drive.</p><p>15. Double click on ncasdss.</p><p>16. Double click on custom.</p><p>17. Click on the on the top right-hand corner of the screen.</p><p>22. If prompted to save changes, click Yes or No, as applicable.</p><p>You have successfully saved your report to an Excel spreadsheet.
