Tell Congress You Oppose Dangerous Cuts to SNA P (Food Stamps)

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly food stamps, is our first line of defense against hunger in America. SNAP lifts millions out of poverty each year and currently helps 47 million low-income Americans – half of them children – put food on the table and lifts 5 million Americans above the poverty line. Over the next few days, Congress will decide whether or not to cut hunger-relief programs in the Farm Bill. Programs like SNAP provide much needed nutrition assistance to vulnerable kids, seniors, and low-income families. We need your help to mobilize thousands of phone calls to Congress this week to make sure they protect food assistance from cuts. Call your members of Congress at (888) 398-8702 and urge Congress to work to protect and strengthen SNAP in the final Farm Bill or other legislation. When calling, say: 1. My name is ______and I am a constituent calling from ______. I am very concerned that Congress will cut SNAP, or food stamps, in the Farm Bill. 2. SNAP helps millions of children, families, seniors, and Americans with disabilities put food on the table. Yet some lawmakers want deep cuts to SNAP, which would throw millions off the program. 3. Unlike the movies, hunger is not a game. Please tell Sen./Rep.______to tell Farm Bill negotiators to protect SNAP in the final Farm Bill. Amplify your message by scanning this QR code to send an e-mail about protecting SNAP. To learn more about RESULTS, visit us at www.results.org and join us an upcoming RESULTS I ntr oductory Call.
