<p>There are approximately 240 sight words that your child will go over during their first grade year. There are six packets with 40 words each. </p><p>You will receive a packet of sight words in the nylon folder to work on at home. Please record a plus (+) sign if they say the word correct, or a negative (-) sign if they miss the word. Keep working on the words until they have mastered the words. (5 times correct in a row.) I will send home a new list as soon as your child has read the words correct for me five times in a row as well.</p><p>Once your child has completed list six, I will go back through all of the words one more time to check for retention. I will write down all of the words they miss. Then, they will read the missed words for me, and get them correct five times in a row. (Therefore, please keep periodically pulling out old sight word lists to review.)</p><p>When this is completed, we don’t do more sight words until 2nd grade. </p>
