Diocesan Cycle of Prayer 2001-2002

UNITED DIOCESES OF DUBLIN & GLENDALOUGH

DIOCESAN CYCLE OF PRAYER 2008-2009

Foreword

One of the important things about the Anglican understanding of the Church is that the Diocese is the local unit of the Universal Church of God. As such the diocese is like a family, where each member has their place, and where each matters to the other. As Christians, this special relationship is nurtured and deepened through prayer for each another. A parish then becomes rather like a household in the family, and this involves keeping in touch with the other households and the individual members of that household.

The Diocesan Cycle of Prayer highlights our relationships to each other as parishes, our concern for the task that each parish or congregation, or chaplaincy, or indeed special ministry undertakes. It is a joy and privilege to hold up before God in prayer each parish, its laity and clergy, and each wider ministry of the diocese.

Canon Mark Gardner prepares the Cycle of Prayer for us each year and we thank him for this labour of love. It is used in the Cathedral each day, and I hope in our parishes each week, and by individuals as frequently as possible.

+John, Archbishop

Links

The Diocesan Cycle of Prayer (a weekly cycle) is online at http://dublin.anglican.org/resources/cycle_of_prayer.php

The Porvoo Cycle of Prayer (a weekly cycle) is online at http://www.porvoochurches.org/diary/index.htm

The Anglican Cycle of Prayer (a daily cycle) is online at http://www.anglicancommunion.org/acp/index.cfm

The Mothers’ Union Cycle of Prayer is online at http://www.dublin.mothersunion.ie/prayerdiary.html

Christ Church Cathedral’s Sunday Intercessions are online at http://cccdub.ie/dean/interces/interces.html Note The Diocesan Cycle of Prayer is published by the Diocesan Office and edited by Canon Mark Gardner, Dean’s Vicar, Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin 8, who will always be pleased to receive suggestions and corrections.
