Yes he was charged with a crime.</p><p>5. What happened to him? They killed him in the river.</p><p>6. Why did his mother choose to leave his casket opened? So everyone could see what they did to her child and the horror.</p><p>7. What is your reaction to this incident? This was so injustice it something so terrible how could they let something like that happen.</p><p>Little Rock 1957 –</p><p>1. What was Gov. Orville Faubus’s problem? Gov. Orville Faubus’s problem was he wanted to be reelected so he turned to segregation. </p><p>2. What did he ask the National Guard to do? He asked the National Guard to keep the black kids the out.</p><p>3. What happened to Elizabeth Eckford? Elizabeth Eckfordshe had to walk home by herself and there was a mob of white people she had to face the mob by herself.</p><p>4. What was Eisenhower forced to do? Eisenhower was forced to send troops the army to little rock to protect the nine kids and maintain peace with the whites.</p><p>5. What happened? The army had to protect the nine kids and they need to keep them safe. Only one black kid made it and graduated.</p><p>6. What is your opinion of the “Little Rock Nine”?</p><p>1 “Little Rock Nine” is something very interesting. The fact of how the white didn’t give up or anything they had a goal for themselves but the black made it.</p><p>Eyes on the Prize (VIDEO Part 2)</p><p>1960 – The Sit-Ins</p><p>1. Why were the students trained in non-violent tactics? They were planning something. They were not going to get in trouble by this because of the white.</p><p>2. What happened in Greensboro, NC? 4 black kids sat in lunch sits for white and didn’t want to get out.</p><p>3. What did Lewis; Butler & Nash do in Nashville? Led students to Nashville sit in.</p><p>4. How did the store manager respond? He told t hem to move and he wouldn’t serve them food. What happened, what did the police do? They got the police to arrest the blacks</p><p>5. What did the local Black community do? Unite in back of students they supported the students.</p><p>6. What happened to the students? How much were they fined? They were arrested find 50 dollars.</p><p>7. How did the parents fight back? They stopped shopping and held on to pocket book.</p><p>8. Segregation now segregation tomorrow and segregation for ever </p><p>3 2. What was Birmingham known for? Segregation </p><p>3. What did M.L. King do in Birmingham? What happened? To lead a demonstration and He got arrested </p><p>4. What did King do while he was in jail?</p><p>He wrote letters from the jail 5. How many children were arrested on Day 1? 700 children arrested </p><p>6. How did Bull Connor respond? He brought he police dog </p><p>7. How did the federal government respond? They know what Alabama is and they didn’t do anything </p><p>8. What did the federal government worry about? About American image </p><p>9. What happened when the jails were full?</p><p>They had to start to negotiate 10. What was negotiated? Desegregation lunch and hire blacks for work. They wanted Downtown to be desegregated.</p><p>11. What did the Klan say? The blacks are not allowed to negotiate with the federal government they would never accept Desegregation. 12. What happened next? They bombed a hotel were king was at. Started to beat the blacks and blacks responded by setting fire </p><p>13. How did Kennedy respond? Proposed a new civil act</p><p>14. Why didn’t Robert F. Kennedy want the March on Washington?</p><p>They were afraid of violence. 15. Why was the White House upset with John Lewis’s speech?
