<p>News for Immediate Release </p><p>Aug. 5, 2015</p><p>Corrections Secretary Appoints New SCI Rockview Superintendent </p><p>Harrisburg – Mark Garman, a 25-year corrections veteran, has been appointed superintendent at the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, Centre County, Secretary of Corrections John E. Wetzel announced today. </p><p>“Mark has been on a multitude of committees and special projects in his 25 years with the department. He always goes that extra step to learn so he can mentor and lead his staff to provide a safe and secure environment,” Wetzel said. </p><p>Garman’s appointment was effective July 27, 2015. </p><p>Garman began his corrections career as a corrections counselor at SCI Huntingdon in June 1990. He transferred to SCI Houtzdale as a corrections unit manager in 1996. Garman was named staff assistant for the regional deputy secretary of the central region in 2007. He returned to SCI Houtzdale as a unit manager 2009. In 2010, he was named major of unit management at SCI Huntingdon, where he was named deputy superintendent for centralized services in 2011. In 2013, he transferred to SCI Rockview to serve in the same capacity.</p><p>Garman has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from Shippensburg University. </p><p>Media contact: Jeff Rackovan (814) 355-4874</p><p>### </p>
