<p>UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/08/18 02 REG. SESS. 02 RS BR 2124</p><p>A RESOLUTION honoring the Trinity High School Shamrocks, KHSAA Class 4A football champions for 2001. WHEREAS, over the last 35 years, the Trinity High School Shamrocks have been the most successful team in Kentucky high school football, winning 13 state championships, going undefeated six times, and winning a state-record 50 consecutive games from 1988 to 1991; and WHEREAS, this season, the Trinity Shamrocks returned to their accustomed spot on top of the Kentucky high school world by winning their first state championship since 1994; and WHEREAS, Trinity dominated opponents during this championship season, compiling a record of 13 wins against only 1 loss, scoring an average of 47.5 points per game while allowing an average of just 8 points per game; and WHEREAS, Trinity was even more dominant during its five-game playoff run, defeating opponents by scores of 60-0, 56-14, 59-8, 50-0, and 45-19; and WHEREAS, Trinity's 45-19 victory over Louisville Male in front of 20,000 fans at the Old Cardinal Stadium in Louisville was highlighted by 33 consecutive Trinity points, which turned a 13-12 Trinity deficit into a 45-13 Trinity blowout; and WHEREAS, Trinity was led to the championship by head coach Bob Beatty, who in two years at the school has amassed a record of 26 wins against only 3 losses; and</p><p>WHEREAS, the individual offensive stars in the championship game for this Trinity team were many and included quarterback Brian Brohm, who passed for a school record 377 yards with three touchdown passes, running back DeQuese May, who rushed for 144 yards and scored four touchdowns, and receivers Alex Hennessey, with four catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns, and TaShawn McBroom, with two catches for 124 yards and a touchdown; and WHEREAS, the stout Trinity defense was led all year and in the championship game by stalwarts such as Wes Soutar, Jeff Sorg, Ryan Fackler, Mike Snyder, and</p><p>Page 1 of 2 BR212400.100-2124 UNOFFICIAL COPY AS OF 05/08/18 02 REG. SESS. 02 RS BR 2124</p><p>Charlie Singleton; and WHEREAS, the championship game victory, like all the endeavors of this Trinity team, was a team effort, and sets a model for youth in achieving and maintaining excellence; NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky: Section 1. The members of the Senate, both individually and collectively, congratulate Trinity High School, President Dr. Rob Mullen, Principal David Winkler, Head Coach Bob Beatty, and the entire Trinity High School Shamrock football team on their stellar play and great achievements during their run to the 2001 KHSAA Class 4A Football Championship. Section 2.
