THE 2012 LPTO SPELLING BEE How Do You Spell Excellence?

Announcing the Lafayette Regional School PTO 3rdAnnual Spelling Bee! On Friday, March 30, 2012 at 6:30 pm sharp, teams of all ages will compete for the coveted title of LPTO Spelling Champions. Will the Three Teachers and a Baby reign supreme again in 2012, or could you and your team prove to be the best spellers in town! We will have a pizza and sweets dinner from 5:30-6:20 pm that will also raise funds for the LPTO. The event will be held at the Lafayette School’s Multipurpose Room, and all proceeds will go to fund enrichment programs sponsored by the LPTO.

Each team will consist of three spellers, who will have the opportunity to confer before offering their answer. The tone of the bee will be light hearted and fun: costumes, themes and mascots are encouraged! For those who like to do their homework, word lists are available by searching on “spelling bee lists”. Others may prefer to expend their energies on team t-shirts. Whatever your style, please know that your participation in the LPTO Spelling Bee will help us to continue to provide enriching programs for the children at the Lafayette School.

The cost to participate in the LPTO Spelling Bee is $25 per person or $75 per team. We welcome individual or team sponsorships and donations of all sizes, as these will allow us to underwrite administrative, older student and teacher teams from our schools and the community. Entry fees are fully tax-deductible. On the night of the Bee, all attendees will receive a program listing contestants, sponsors and donors.

The LPTO strives to fund the extras for all the children at the Lafayette School. Each year, Artists or Scientist are brought in for week-long residencies, all children experience some sort of arts experience at the Silver Center or at the school, authors, storytellers, and musicians are all brought in and funded by the LPTO. In addition, the LPTO funds teacher requests to try new things in their classrooms when there isn’t room for these things in the regular school budget. Monies available for all these things are generated through several fundraisers over the course of the year. This Spelling Bee is an annual tradition that the community looks forward to while helping to meet the growing needs of our schools in this era of tight budgets. Please join the fun and help us spell excellence for our children! Questions? Contact Rose Ellms @ 823-9077, or [email protected]. Or Ajilla Pospesil @ 823-5830 or [email protected].
