
<p> A partnership dedicated to youth development, lifelong learning, celebration of diversity, and community engagement</p><p>Hillside Youth Theatre Production Director Qualifications: Acting and directing experience in college and/or community theatre settings. Experience working with youth in large group settings. Strong organizational skills. Enthusiasm for working with children Ability to relate effectively with low-income, culturally diverse children and their families.</p><p>Responsibilities: Coordinate the production team to ensure that youth participants are involved in all aspects of creating the play. Communicate regularly with Youth Development Director about items to include in the weekly newsletter. Co-Facilitate weekly staff meetings on Monday mornings and facilitate director meetings. Teach acting techniques using methods appropriate and fun for the children. Work with the Music Director to teach dance and movement techniques using methods appropriate and fun for the children. Teaching will include children involved in both the production and the camp. Offer direction that is individualized and encourages each child to develop creatively, intellectually, and socially. Establish clear guidelines for behavior during rehearsals and ensure that a respectful atmosphere is maintained. Establish a production schedule that will result in well-paced rehearsals and timely completion of costumes, sets and props. Lead camp songs and whole group lessons/activities. Facilitate the involvement of parents and other volunteers throughout the session and during the run of the play. Provide guidance and mentor Incredible Exchange and other youth volunteers. Work closely with the Youth Development Director to ensure that adequate transportation arrangements are in place for all campers and are being followed through on a daily basis. Facilitate collaboration of dance, music, and technical aspects of the production. Other duties as assigned.</p><p>Time commitment: This position is up to 25 hour/week (averaged over an 8 week period) for a total not to exceed 200 hours. The Season runs June 13th – Aug. 5th, 2016. Camp Times with students, Mondays – Thursdays 8:30-12:30; flexible hours outside of camp time for planning. Extended hours during play performance week – July 24th-27th Attendance during session meeting times, staff meetings, rehearsals, and performances is required.
