<p>Dear Parents & Carers</p><p>The past week has been very trying for our community. Some people have suffered extreme hardship and will take time to recover. We are so proud of our students who have been out in the community supporting others – such wonderful qualities of citizenship and thoughtfulness.</p><p>We thank our families who responded to the Year Advisers who endeavoured to contact every family from our school. Your advice has assisted us in developing support structures for our students and their return to school.</p><p>We are able to provide sustenance through the canteen, uniform assistance, books and pens. If you haven’t spoken to a Year Adviser and need such support, please contact the Administration Office and they will assist. If someone needs some clothes washed they can contact the school and we can assist Thursday and Friday with use of our facilities.</p><p>School counselling support will be ongoing to students upon arrangement when school resumes. If you are concerned about your child and feel they are struggling over the holidays we recommend kids help line 1800 55 1800 or your local GP.</p><p>We are happy to accept uniform or clothing items to share with our families if you wish to donate them to the school.</p><p>We know our students will be wondering about exams and assessment tasks. Year 12 exams will recommence the Thursday of Week 1 next term. A time table will be sent to Year 12 students via email.</p><p>Below is an overview of changes to assessments and tests for Years 7 – 12 that were due either late this term or early next term. We hope this assists. If circumstances are such that further provision to extend the date of a due task is required, please contact the Year Adviser to seek advice. </p><p>We will participate in the Anzac Day march and students who wish to join us should meet at the Post Office at 10am. School resumes for students on the 26th April.</p><p>If you know someone who will not receive this email please find a way to share the information with them. </p><p>Please look after yourselves and know we are thinking of you.</p><p>Karen Connell and Staff of Wollumbin High School.</p><p>GENERAL ASSESSMENT UPDATE FOR YEARS 7 – 12</p><p>Teachers will clarify with students on their return to school.</p><p>. Yr 12 exams – Thurs, Fri of week 1 and Mon, Tues, Wed Week 2. </p><p>. Yr 12 assessment: </p><p> o Society and Culture move to week 4, o Ext 2 English due week 2 move to week 4</p><p> o Chemistry from week 1 to week 3</p><p> o Other changes scheduled for later in the term will be advised to students.</p><p>. Yr 11 Assessment:</p><p> o 11 DAT move to early week 2</p><p> o Maths move from week 11 term 1 to week 9 term 2</p><p> o Construction will be due – week 2 term 2,</p><p> o CAFS to week 5</p><p> o SLR in term 2 during class time</p><p> o Business – Week 11 Term 1 to week 2 term 2</p><p>. Yr 10 assessment:</p><p> o Reschedule HSIE field work to Tues the 2nd May.</p><p> o HSIE task now due after the exams. </p><p> o English submit by end of week 1 if not already submitted</p><p>. Yr 7 assessment:</p><p> o English – move from week 11 Term 1 to week 1 Term 2</p><p> o HSIE – to week 3 term 2</p><p> o Science test moved to week 2 term 2, submit portfolios when students return</p><p>ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY INFORMATION</p><p>We have received some information regarding community support which is shared in this email. There is also an attachment with the email with some further contact numbers. The Murwillumbah Pool will not be charging flood affected families who are looking for a hot shower and the use of a toilet until further notice.</p><p>The phone number for Government Disaster Relief is 1802266</p><p>The Murwillumbah Community Centre is currently a flood information and assistance point from 9am-5pm weekdays. Currently there is the NSW Government Disaster Welfare Team there, along with several representatives from Dept. Housing </p><p>For those that can’t make it to the Centre, and have State Government enquiries relating to disaster welfare services, they are encouraged to contact 1800 018 444. Attached is a list of contact numbers that may be of assistance.</p><p>The contact number for Department of Primary Industries (DPI) – 1300 795 299. In addition to what is included in the attachment they will assist with lost or found livestock, stranded livestock, emergency fodder, flood-related agricultural issues, and deceased stock.</p><p>The Community Centre is being used as a drop off point for a lot of perishable and non-perishable goods. Flood affected families can help themselves to what is available at any given time which varies bottled water, fresh bread, fresh fruit, soap, etc the Evacuation Centre is no longer receiving food or clothing donations – they have been overwhelmed</p>
