<p>POETRY PROJECT English 10 Mr. Castellano</p><p>As part of our study of poetry, you will be doing a group project on poetry. This project will be similar to the mythology projects that you did in that each group will present its ideas from the front of the room. Essentially, you will be teaching these poems to the class. Your job is to raise questions, give insights, and provide a good reading and analysis of the poems. You do not need to have all the answers, but you do need to present a theory on the meaning of the poem. I would like you to comment on form and content; look at poetic devices, images, ideas, themes, etc. Each group will be responsible for two (2) poems. You can divide these up any way that you like. It probably makes the most sense to have 3 people in each group be responsible for one poem. You certainly will gain from talking about the poems with the other people in your group. Every person in each group must be responsible for part of the presentation and every person must speak during your presentation. I will give you some time in class to work on the projects. Each person must do work on his or her own; you will also have to meet outside class time together. My goal is to start the presentations on Thursday, 10 May. In advance of your presentation, you must submit an outline of your talk. Your grade will be based on the outline you submit, the work I see you do in class, evidence of outside work in your presentation, how well the group works and speaks together, and your individual oral presentation. The project is worth 100 points. I hope you get to explore some of the richness and possibilities of poetry: have fun with the project. Do your best.</p><p>These are the poems from which to choose. There is a little flexibility with the poems, but I will assign them. If you have another poem you really want to do, please see me to discuss it. Take the next few days to read through the poems to see which ones you want your group to do. Talk to each other.
