<p>Mrs. Cesari Library Media Center Lesson Plan Career Poster: Using resources & Working with templates</p><p>Objective: Students will preview 3 career resources, access and utilizes those resources, and begin working on their template. </p><p>Learning Standards: AASL: 1.1.4 Find, evaluate, and select appropriate sources to answer questions; 1.2.3 Demonstrate creativity by using multiple resources and formats; 1.2.6 Display emotional resilience by persisting in information searching despite challenges.</p><p>Resources: The resources required include computers, LCD projector, career poster template, and the following resources: Choices, Chronicle Career Library, and Career Zone. </p><p>Grade Level: 8th grade</p><p>PROCEDURES</p><p>Anticipatory Set: Ask : Looked at print – what are some other ways we can access information?</p><p>Teach:  Discuss idea of sources accessed electronically  Show Choices database accessed through shell o Click Jump-in, then choose Post-Secondary (DEFINE) o Alpha order, or use “FIND” feature  Show Chronicle Career Library accessed through Durgee Library Website ->Databases o Alpha order list, then view “Occupational Briefs” o Table of contents on left o Search feature – skills o Codes  Show Career Zone accessed through Durgee Library Website -> Classroom projects o Explore Careers -> text site o Organized by Career cluster – may have to guess, then in alpha order  Other resources available – need to use at least 3 different sources  Open template from Spencer’s Class folder o To do this: 1) Open Microsoft Office, 2) Go to File -> Open, 3) Look in  Class Folders  Spencer, 4) Click on “Career Poster Template” and then click on “open”  Go to File -> Save As -> Have students navigate to their space on the network -- it will be like 13XXXX, ask them to re-name the file with their last name and then click “save” o Remind them that if they don’t do this step correctly, others will be able to save over their work  Can type into template o Use bullets o DO NOT COPY AND PASTE = Plagiarism Mrs. Cesari Library Media Center Lesson Plan</p><p>Activity / Opportunity for Practice:  Students use resources to complete template for 1 – 2 periods </p><p>Assessment:  Assess completed templates</p><p>Closure: Ask: What do you think will be the most useful resource? Why? </p>
