<p> Soaring to the Future GKHS Careers Lesson Plan 2013-2014 Grade 9 Date Section Topic Supplies September 12,  All Student Handbook  Student planner 2013 Conspiracy/Promoting 18  Policies at a Glance Discipline 17 #2 worksheet Electronics 24 Failure to comply 18 Fighting 25 Harassment 29</p><p>Learning Target:  I will be able to summarize a few critical policies and procedures at GKHS.</p><p>Agenda</p><p>Opening Activity  Have students complete the middle column of the Policies at a Glance #2 worksheet. </p><p>Group work  Create 6 groups in your class</p><p> Assign each group a different policy to read through and summarize for the class. The groups are as follows: Conspiracy/Promoting, Discipline, Electronics, Failure to comply, Fighting, Harassment</p><p> Each group will have 7 minutes to create a summary and then present to the class. (presentations are to be no longer than 1 minute)</p><p> As each group presents, the rest of the class must complete the Actual Policy column</p><p> Follow up with each group, ensuring the following Key points are included.</p><p>Conspiracy/Promoting o Will result in discipline o Examples: encouraging, spreading rumors, bystanders not walking away, withholding information, interfering with investigation. Discipline o Progressive discipline o 9 different sanctions (warning, conference, detention, confiscation, assessment, restitution, suspension, police contact and emergency expulsion) o Refer students to chart on pages 19-21 Electronics o Not to be seen or used during school hours o 1st offense—parents must pick up o 2nd offense—locked up until June Failure to comply o Insubordination o Must comply with any staff member o May also be defined as non-performance, not doing homework, or not using class time properly Fighting o ANY confrontation verbal OR physical o Horseplay, mock fighting included o Stepping up subject to discipline o 10 day suspension Harassment o UNWANTED put downs, pestering, taunting, looking at, etc o Isolated incidents not harassment but subject to discipline o Refers students to chart pages 29-30</p><p>Closure Have students complete the final questions portion of the Policies at a Glance worksheet and collect as an exit slip.
