<p> FIRST “ACOUSTIC DOPPLER VELOCIMETER” REGIONAL WORKSHOP</p><p>Córdoba, Argentina, April 26 – 27, 2007</p><p>Organized by </p><p>Instituto Superior de Recursos Hídricos, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina</p><p>Instituto Nacional del Agua, Argentina </p><p>Sponsored by </p><p>Subsecretaría de Recursos Hídricos de la Nación, Argentina</p><p>Comité Latinoamericano de la Asociación Internacional de Investigaciones e Ingeniería Hidráulica (IAHR) Introduction Acoustic Doppler velocimetry (ADV) has been used lately to characterize turbulent flows in laboratory and in the field because it is relatively low in cost, can record at a relatively high frequency in adverse measurement conditions, has a relatively small sampling volume and doesn’t require systematic calibration.</p><p>At the present day, there are in Argentina and in neighboring countries (Chile and Brazil) several groups that utilize ADV in projects related to fluids mechanics, sediment transport, river mechanics, hydraulics structures, environmental engineering, etc.. This workshop arises like an initiative to fortify the interaction between these groups and its objective is to share know-how and experiences in the use of ADV for optimize the utilization of these instruments and to achieve a better understanding of the results. </p><p>The predicted methodology for this workshop consists of: * Introductory presentations in charge of the organizers of this workshops, invited professors and ADV companies. * Each group interested in participating will have a module or section to present its projects or studies of cases, and to exchange opinions with the others participating on the measurements and analysis techniques utilized in each case. * Practical session at the Laboratory of Hydraulics of the National University of Cordoba.</p><p>Important dates: March, 1st 2007: due date for each group to confirm its participation April, 26th 2007: Registration in the place of the event. </p><p>Registration: pesos $100 (about 33 dollars) per person.
