Interior

Press Release October 2008

Continental Automotive Trading UK Ltd Makes a Debut at the Euro Bus Expo 2008

Our product line-up at the Euro Bus Expo 2008 includes tachographs and data management; instrumentation; pedals and solutions for on-board electronics; under the VDO brand name.

Our new generation of user-friendly digital tachograph data management solutions can help operators fulfill their legal obligations and operate more efficiently. The solutions include TIS-Web which is the ideal solution for operators integrating digital tachographs into their business. From just approximately 80p a week, TIS-Web highlights driver infringements, downloads the contents of cards, reads analogue charts and analyses all the data. With several reports to choose from including Driver Fault and Infringements and Vehicle Activity Summary, operators can ensure their drivers are adhering to legislation and also optimise the use of their vehicles, to reduce costs. The free software provides the equivalent of 250 chart downloads, covering one driver/vehicle for one year or 4 vehicles/drivers for 3 months. Automatic updates and a support team are provided as part of the TIS-Web package. Customers can trial TIS-Web for three months for free. Visit our website www.dtco.co.uk for further information.

The VDO Viewline instrumentation range provides plug and play solutions for panel and flush mounting. With modular solutions in three housing variants, VDO supply more functions, more flexible installation and design options and space-saving possibilities. Viewline is available with a variety of different input characteristics and can display multiple functions and warnings on the same combi-instrument.

VDO offer a comprehensive range of pedal solutions for the bus and coach market. Modern engines require that the accelerator pedal’s position be transmitted to the engine control unit via an electrical signal. Since standardised interface requirements don’t exist yet, we have adapted the signals of our pedals to the values required by the engine control unit. Thanks to our comprehensive range of pedals we can offer appropriate solutions for every installation situation and many different requirements.

Our network solutions for onboard electronics replace conventional electrics and bulky fixed wiring harnesses in vehicles. Featuring flexible multiplex architecture, our smart, state of the art networks offer high performance and reliable diagnostics. Drivers can access all relevant information at any time via a direct interface. Standard data buses enable easy connection of a variety of components. Our KIBES multiplexing onboard electronics system radically reduces the number of cables, connections, plugs, relays and fuses installed in a vehicle. This makes a major contribution to enhanced vehicle reliability and helps lower the cost of wiring activities, plus the time spent on quality checks, documentation and servicing. Alongside these savings, the costs associated with procurement, inventory and admin can also be trimmed.

Visit Continental Automotive Trading at the NEC Birmingham, in Hall 5, Stand T172

About Continental

With targeted annual sales of more than €26.4 billion for 2008, the Continental Corporation is one of the top automotive suppliers worldwide.
