<p> WEARING MASKS</p><p>In many cultures around the world masks are symbolic representations of a person’s soul. They explain about the individual and give the wearer a chance to express him or herself. However, we can sometimes wear masks in a figurative sense – meaning we play different roles for different people in our lives.</p><p>Think about the following people in your life. Do you act differently around them? How?</p><p>Parents Siblings Friends Teachers Coaches Classmates Grandparents Neighbors Other family Strangers</p><p>For this project, you are going to create your own mask. The mask should reflect your personality and how you portray yourself to the outside world. It may be decorated in any way you like, but you must be able to explain your reasons for the choices you make.</p><p>1- Pay careful attention to color. Pick a color (or colors) that reflects you best. 2- Add designs. What do the designs mean? 3- Add “stuff.” Feathers, glitter, stickers, leaves, pictures from magazines – anything that helps explain you better. 4- There can be multiple sections to your mask. If you act differently for different people, split the mask – in half, thirds, quarters – whatever. 5- It should be big enough so that you can actually wear it.</p><p>Along with the completed mask product, you will also need to complete a written assignment. In an essay of a minimum of 250 words, explain the different components of your mask. Why did you make the choices that you did? What does the mask explain about your personality? Are there different sides of your personality?</p><p>ASSIGNMENT IS WORTH 20 POINTS – Due on ______. 10 points mask – must include color and design and actually be wearable. 10 points essay – Should include introduction, body, and conclusion (organization). Should focus on all elements of the mask – color, designs, attached objects, etc. (content) Should have proper grammar, spelling, etc. (conventions)</p>
