I hope that each of you had a restful and enjoyable two week break over the holidays. It was nice to connect with family and friends and have some down time away from the daily grind! </p><p>We are back in full swing here and the kids have made the transition nicely. Each grade level has been reminding students of our expected behaviors and school rules this week. Our focus for the next month is Respect and Kindness. It would be a great conversation starter to have with your student ways in which they were able to demonstrate these traits during their school day. Sometimes when we ask specific questions like these we get a better response than we would to the traditional, “how was your day?” question which most of us are used to asking. Give it a try!</p><p>I would like to encourage you to mark your calendars for our Parent Conferences which are coming up much earlier this year. Our next opportunity for conferences is Wednesday, January 31st and Thursday, February 1st. Both of these days will be early release days followed by a regular early release day Friday. Whether student led or traditional conferences, this is an excellent time to talk with your student’s teacher and find out about their learning in the classroom. We had a great turn out in October and hope to again this month!</p><p>Our 4th and 5th graders will also be off to swimming lessons this month. We will brace for the weather and hop in the pool to gain important water safety and swim skills. More information will come from classroom teachers on your child’s schedule.</p><p>The Boys and Girls Club will also be starting an Art Club during lunch times every other Wednesday here at Millicoma. This is a free, no membership needed class and should prove to be a fun time being creative! We are excited to partner with the Boys and Girls Club and are thankful for their willingness to send staff for us! I hope that 2018 will be a great year for each of you!</p><p>Ms. Inskeep </p>
