<p>How to write a film review – becoming a critic Title of the movie (e.g. Snow White and the Huntsman) Paragraph 1 You will need to include the following: name of the film, prominent stars of the film, basic setting (time and place), and type of film (comedy, adventure, drama, etc.) Paragraph 2 You will need to outline the plot or compare it to the original plot if it is a remake. Do not reveal the ending. How does it compare to other films of the same genre? Is it a good example of this story? Compare the main differences. Paragraph 3 Discuss one aspect of filmmaking. You may choose from specific casting of actors and their acting, film direction, editing, costume design, set design, photography, background music, special effects or anything else you may think of. Be sure that you are specific, descriptive, provide your opinion and cite examples from the movie to support ideas. Paragraph 4 Discuss other aspects of the filmmaking that are significant. You may choose from acting, visual symbolism in specific scenes, director’s choices (message conveyed or focus on ideas), editing, costume design, set design, photography, background music, mood or tone of film, or anything else you may think of, but obviously choose something different from what you discussed in the previous paragraph. Be sure that you are descriptive, detailed and justify with reference to examples from the movie. Paragraph 5 Provide your overall reaction to the film as well as your opinion on the quality of the film. Also include your recommendations for potential viewers. Include how many stars you would rate this film. </p>
