Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.</p><p>Job Family and Level: R&T Level 4 </p><p>Contract Status: Fixed Term</p><p>Hours of Work: Full Time</p><p>Location: School of Computer Science, Jubilee Campus</p><p>Reporting to: Dr Georgios Tzimiropoulos</p><p>Purpose of the New Role: The Research Fellow is responsible for conducting research in the area of visual and feature learning for face detection, alignment and tracking. </p><p>Main Responsibilities % time per year</p><p>1. To undertake fundamental research, and devise and implement novel compute 70% r vision and learning algorithms for face detection, alignment and tracking. 2. To develop a track record of published research findings in internationally 20% leading peer-reviewed journals and conferences. To contribute documented software to the project. 3. To help with the supervision of graduate students conducting related research. 10% To assist with the pursuit of continuation funding.</p><p>Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience</p><p>Essential Desirable Qualifications/  PhD (or close to completion) in  Research experience in the Education Computer Vision. area of face analysis.  Research experience in any of the following areas: detection, tracking, alignment and recognition. Skills/Training  Background in Computer  Prior work on (facial) Vision: feature deformable models extraction/learning,  Experience in the area of mathematical optimization and learning representations machine learning. including deep learning.  Good programming skills (Matlab, C++)</p><p>Recruitment  Ability to design, conduct and project original research in the subject area.  Excellent written communication, including the ability to write reports and research outputs. Experience  Published research articles in  Published articles in the any of the following areas: area of face analysis feature learning, detection,  Published articles in tracking, alignment and CVPR/ICCV/ECCV/BMVC/F recognition. G and IEEE TPAMI, IJCV, IEEE TIP. Statutory/Legal Eligible to work in the UK.</p><p>Decision Making i) taken independently by the role holder • Conducting research according to agreed objectives • Decision on technical issues arising as part of the research work ii) taken in collaboration with others • Exploration of research directions to support to overall research goals • Decision on strategies to achieve the agreed research goals • Decision of research papers to be written for dissemination iii) referred to the appropriate line manager by the role holder • Changes to the research directions, objectives or goals • Approval of research papers for circulation and/or presentation outside the research team</p><p>Additional Information The role holder will be part of the CVL research group in the School of Computer Science.</p><p>Head of School/Department Prof. Uwe Aickelin (or nominee): Date completed:</p><p>Page 2 of 2</p>
