Dried/Artificial Flower Arrangements

Dried/Artificial Flower Arrangements

Supplies Needed: Assorted Dried or Artificial Flowers Small Pots or Baskets Styrofoam or Clay Scissors

Procedure: 1. Lay all dried/artificial flowers out on the table. 2. Give each participant a pot/basket and pair of scissors 3. Participants should place a Styrofoam base, or small amount of clay in the bottom of their pot 4. Participants should cut dried/artificial flowers down to a length appropriate for the pot/basket. (Note: if using artificial flowers with wire stems, participants may need to twist stems back and forth to complete the cut). 5. Each participant should work to create an attractive flower arrangement in their pot/basket, by inserting flower stems into the Styrofoam or clay.

Notes: 1. Many dried flowers can be broken instead of cut, so scissors may not be necessary. 2. Wire stems of artificial flowers can be sharp and difficult to cut. Participants may need flowers cut in advance. 3. For more advanced groups, encourage participants to experiment with different types and heights of flowers for a more interesting arrangement. 4. Non-toxic clay may be most appropriate for some clients.
