<p> ELDER ABUSE PROGRAM Component: 40.20.451</p><p>PROGRAM OVERVIEW</p><p>The purpose of the Elder Abuse (XE) Program is to expand multidisciplinary community response to victims of elder and dependent adult abuse. To enhance the safety of victims by providing direct victim services, bridging the gap between elder justice service providers including: Adult Protective Services (APS), Long-Term Care Ombudsman programs, legal assistance providers, and victim service providers. Mandatory objectives include: assistance in obtaining crime victim compensation benefits, information and referral regarding the criminal justice process, emotional support and safety services, emergency shelter, financial, and transportation services, personal advocacy, and providing an understanding of the victim’s rights within the criminal/civil justice system. </p><p>The Elder and Dependent Adult Abuse (XE) Program is supported with the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) formula grant program, which is authorized by the Victims of Crime Act of 1984 as emended, 42 U.S.C. 10601, et seq. </p><p>FUNDS AWARDED</p><p>Fiscal Year Types of Funding Total Funding</p><p>FY 2015-16 Program began July 1, 2016 FY 2016-17 Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) FFY15 $ 4,800,000 FY 2017-18 Unknown</p><p>2015-16 PERFORMANCE STATISTICS Program began July 1, 2016, no statistics to be reported.</p><p>2016-17 PERFORMANCE STATISTICS* 27 Victims were provided assistance in seeking crime victim compensation benefits. </p><p>312 Information and referral (in-person) re: the criminal justice process, victim’s rights, referrals to victim service programs and resources. </p><p>230 Emotional support/safety services such as: crisis intervention, counseling (including hotline and individual), on-scene crisis response, support groups, and other therapy.</p><p>5 Shelter, housing, and supportive services for transitional housing, relocation assistance, short-term in-home care and supervision, and short-term care in residential care facilities. </p><p>The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Program 40 - Criminal Justice Programs XE Program 378 Criminal/civil justice system support re: civil legal attorney assistance, notification of criminal justice events, victim impact statement assistance, court accompaniment, and other legal services. </p><p>3 Emergency financial assistance to victims of financial abuse. </p><p>61 Advocacy/accompaniment for emergency medical care and forensic exams, interviews with law enforcement, social service assistance, advocacy and immigration assistance, interpreter services, dependent care assistance, and employer/creditor/landlord intervention. </p><p>16 Emergency transportation to shelters, court, medical/mental health or other places of safety.</p><p>*Statistics are for the first six months of the performance period. </p><p>2017-18 PERFORMANCE STATISTICS Not Applicable</p><p>The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Program 40 - Criminal Justice Programs XE Program</p>
