2.2 Export of Plants, Plant Products and Other Regulated Articles

<p>1. Exports 2.1 Export Programs 2.2 Export of plants, plant products and other regulated articles  Phytosanitary certificate is an official letter from one NPPO (National Plant Protection Organisation) to another NPPO, stating that the document is to certify that the plants, plant products or other regulated articles, described in the phytosanitary certificate has been inspected and / or tested according to appropriate official procedures and are considered to be free from quarantine pests specified by the importing country and to conform to the current phytosanitary requirements of the importing country, including those of regulated non quarantine pests and it deemed to be practically free from other pests.  The original phytosanitary certificate or a certified true copy issued by the NPPO, must accompany the consignment that is presented to the relevant officials upon arrival in the importing country.  The Phytosanitary certificate must not include references to animal or human health matters, pesticide residues or radioactivity, or commercial information such as letter of credit  Phytosanitary certificates are not allowed to be pre or post dated, or issued after dispatch of the consignment  The potential exporter must obtain the import requirements from the importing country in advance (Import Permit, Import requirements on an official letter head, protocols and directives)  If required by the importing country that the (mother plants be inspected) exporter must apply for field inspections. (Application for inspection)  For inspections requirements, the exporter must apply for such inspections well in advance at the office s of the Directorate from where the inspection will be conducted  For final certificate the exporter must apply in writing at least before final certification on a form obtainable from offices of the Directorate  The export consignment must leave the borders of South Africa within 14 days after certification. </p>
