The commitment for Honors/AP classes is for the entire year, and typically includes required pre-requisite work that must be completed prior to the beginning of the course. Disenrollment Procedure</p><p>Students are enrolled in Honors/AP classes for the entire year. The rationale for this practice is as follows:</p><p> Students request enrollment in all Honors/AP classes through an application process and are expected to adhere to their commitment for each Honors/AP course selected.  Parents give written consent to all Honors/AP student applications and are informed in advance of the disenrollment policy.  Applications are screened by Honors/AP teachers to insure that students have the appropriate skill levels and motivation for success in this level of class.  Mid–year disenrollment would require other non–Honors/AP classes to absorb the disenrolled students, resulting in larger classes.</p><p>To drop a Honors/AP class, a student must meet one of the following criteria:</p><p> The student has not passed a pre-requisite course.  The student has a Medical hardship as evidenced by a doctor’s letter.  There has been a recommendation from the Honors/AP Disenrollment Committee for the student to drop. (The Disenrollment Committee is composed of the student’s teachers, counselor, administrator, and other school personnel as needed.
