The Lord and the Turmoil

The Lord and the Turmoil

Introduction to the Bible Session 11 2 Samuel 1-24 (selected) and 1 Kings 1-11 (selected)

David – Part 2 and Solomon

The tribes of Israel are clearly divided in their loyalties. David’s tribe of Judah rallies around him while all the remaining tribes of Israel are supporters of Saul’s family. As David unites all the tribes behind himself, 2 Samuel tells the story of David’s reign and death and the transition to the reign of David’s son, Solomon. The first eleven chapters of 1 Kings relate the history of Solomon. Most noteworthy is his building of the Temple in Jerusalem, which is followed in later years by his loss of faith. The potential for turmoil clearly faces the land of Israel.

I.
