<p> 2014-2015 Senior Scrapbook English IV </p><p>1. Start at the beginning of the year – TODAY!</p><p>2. Collect 6 items (or more) each nine weeks that holds special memories of events significant to you. The first nine weeks you may include a maximum of two items from the past summer.</p><p>3. You will have almost complete freedom in selecting items for inclusion, but you may not include questionable pictures, descriptions or language. Do not use a specific entry more than once. Be creative and selective. Memento items may be included: photographs, hand drawings or other personal artwork, gum wrappers, speeding tickets, orange warning sticker, tardy/detention slips, ticket stubs, newspaper clippings, menus, acceptance/rejection letters from colleges, programs, corsages, spirit ribbons/stickers, medals, UIL judging sheets, etc. Remember that the items should fit into a scrapbook (about the size of a large binder).</p><p>4. The scrapbook must have a paragraph or two written about each of the entries. Each entry must have a minimum of 100 words (put word count below each). Each nine weeks have specific writing requirements for the entries:</p><p>1st Nine Weeks – narrative, expository, and persuasive, your choice for remaining entries 2nd Nine Weeks – narrative, expository, persuasive, and compare and contrast, your choice for remaining entries 3rd Nine Weeks – narrative, expository, persuasive, compare and contrast, and editorial, your choice for remaining entry 4th Nine Weeks – narrative, expository, persuasive, compare and contrast, editorial, and reflection</p><p>5. To get a test grade of 100, the entries for each of the nine weeks must be displayed in an album, large binder, scrapbook, or electronically (on a flash drive or emailed to me using PowerPoint). The due dates for the scrapbooks for each nine weeks are:</p><p>1st Nine Weeks – ______2nd Nine Weeks – ______3rd Nine Weeks – ______4th Nine Weeks – ______</p><p>DO NOT REMOVE THE PREVIOUS ENTRIES. You simply add 6 new entries each nine weeks. At the end of the year, you must have at least 24 entries.</p><p>6. Because this is part of the English IV curriculum, it is a required project and recorded as a test grade. This is a great way to boost your average and keep a record of special memories of your senior year. Enjoy the adventures and mishaps that occur throughout the year, document the most significant ones, and you will have a wonderful book of memories for reminiscing once high school is long behind you. Trust me, the time will come when you’ll be glad that you did. Definition of entry types:</p><p>Narrative – retelling of event </p><p>Expository – presentation of information (inform, explain, instruct)</p><p>Persuasive – convince reader of your stated opinion</p><p>Compare and contrast – compare and contrast anything</p><p>Editorial – persuasive piece expressing your opinion</p><p>Reflection – examine your own experiences, values, memories or opinions in relation to a specific topic</p><p>Your test grade will be a reflection of the effort you put in this project. The writing components will be done (for the most part) in class, but all other requirements will be done outside of school. All entries must have a title which includes the writing type/style used. Highest possible grades are: </p><p>70 = Turning in only the 6 hand written entries done in class. 80 = Turning in the 6 entries done in class, typed 90 = Turning in the 6 entries done in class, typed, and with a memento or picture for each entry 100 = Turning in the 6 entries done in class, typed, and with a memento or picture for each entry in a scrapbook or binder and with a table of contents and all entries for the year up to that point</p>
