<p>Jim Skogsbergh President and CEO Advocate Health Care, Oakbrook, IL</p><p>BIOGRAPHY</p><p>Jim Skogsbergh, 45, is president and chief executive officer of Advocate Health Care, the largest fully integrated healthcare delivery system in metropolitan Chicago and is recognized as one of the top five systems in the country. He has held this position since April 2002. Skogsbergh joined Advocate as chief operating officer in January 2001. </p><p>Skogsbergh came to Advocate Health Care from Iowa Health System in Des Moines, where he served as executive vice president. He also was the president and chief executive officer of Iowa Methodist, Iowa Lutheran and Blank Children’s hospitals. Skogsbergh was responsible for three hospitals, multiple physician organizations and academic teaching programs, and played a management role in the ten hospital, 450 physician statewide Iowa Health System. Skogsbergh joined Iowa Methodist Medical Center in 1991 as executive vice president. From 1982 to 1991, he was with Memorial Health System of South Bend, Indiana where he began as an administrative resident and moved up through several positions to become executive vice president and chief operating officer of Memorial Hospital of South Bend. </p><p>A Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives, Skogsbergh serves on the board of the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council and is a member of the Illinois Hospital Association’s Advocacy Council. He also is a member of the Chicago Economic Club, the Young Presidents Organization and World Business Chicago.</p><p>Skogsbergh holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, and a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.</p><p>Advocate Health Care, based in Oak Brook, Illinois, is a faith-based, non-profit system, related to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and the United Church of Christ. Advocate’s more than 200 sites of care throughout metropolitan Chicago include eight acute care hospitals and two children’s hospitals, a home healthcare company, Chicago’s largest contracting and care management organization and three of Chicago’s largest medical groups. One of every three physicians in Chicago is part of Advocate’s nearly 4,600-member medical staff. With more than 25,000 employees, Advocate is the second largest private employer in Chicago and the only healthcare provider listed among the 25 best places to work in Chicago, according to Chicago magazine. Advocate serves more than 1.5 million patients across Chicago land. Through a long-term academic and teaching affiliation with the University of Illinois at Chicago Health Sciences Center, Advocate trains more resident physicians than any non-university teaching hospital in Illinois. </p>
