Upcoming Events  NEW DATE ASVAB – Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery – will be held in the Lancer Library on Monday, December 7th at 8am. This assessment is a great tool to help students define their strengths which helps direct college & career readiness. Student results will not be released to any branch of the military. Please stop by the CCC for a Student & Parent Guide to the ASVAB and to sign up.</p><p> VCFD Spring Fire Cadet Applications Seniors interested in a career in the fire service are invited to apply for the Spring session of VCFD Fire Cadets. Applications are available at Fire Station #35, 2500 W. Hillcrest Drive, NP between 8am and 7pm . Completed applications must be returned before 5pm on Wednesday, December 2 nd. Stop by the CCC for a flyer or visit the CCC website.</p><p> *NEW* Outdoor School Counselors Interviews Juniors & Seniors! Stop by the CCC to confirm your interview date and time. The schedule is posted on the window of the CCC. Interviews will take place Monday, November 30th through Wednesday, December 2nd.</p><p> *NEW* Financial Aid Night – Mark your calendars! On Tuesday, January 5th Tammy Velasquez, Assistant Financial Aid Director at CLU will be presenting information on FAFSA, Cal Grant, institutional Tutorscholarships and more! Volunteer</p><p> S-M-A-R-T Mentoring & Tutoring The S-M-A-R-T program at Colina MS is looking for positive and committed tutors who can help provide an educational opportunity for all students regardless of the situation. This free service can be customized to your preferences.</p><p> Boys & Girls Clubs TOHS Volunteer Program – Volunteer with MS students leading sports, tutoring, running various programs and helping at events. Daily transportation is available from TOHS to the club. (Redwood 805 371-4045 & Los Cerritos 805 443-2917) </p><p> Park Oaks Outreach Center Looking for Community Service? Volunteer with the Park Oaks Outreach Center at Park Oaks Elementary School. Tutors are needed to help 1st & 2nd grade elementary school students improve their reading, writing and math skills. Tutors would work every Wednesday from 6-7:30pm through April 27th. Be sure to print neatly and return completed forms to Mrs. Peters in the CCC and allow 24-48 hours for processing and approval from the Dean of Attendance. </p><p>Work Permits are job specific! You must have a job to get a Work Permit. Work Permits issued last school year or over the summer have now expired and new forms must be submitted.</p><p>4. College Information Presentations:</p><p>College visits will resume in the Spring.</p><p>College Preview Days – Colleges frequently have on campus preview days for freshman or workshops held locally or on their campuses. Check the websites of colleges you would like to know more about. NEW* College Wise, a blog by Kevin McMullin – Kevin Mullin, founder of College Wise, has advice for students and parents thinking about college. This post advises “Good Enough is Good Enough”. You may also subscribe to College Wise! 6. Scholarships : *NEW* There are many scholarship search websites to find scholarships you may qualify for. Be careful when filling out information. The application should not have a fee associated with it. Check out the Scholarship page on the CCC website for a list of scholarship websites and go online to www.fastweb.com or www.scholarship.com . GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program TOHS has a great tradition of students “demonstrating exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship” as required by both the National GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship and the local Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation Scholars Program. Exceptional student leaders are invited to apply for the 2016 GE- Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. Which annually rewards up to 20 college bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships (up to $40,000 per recipient. Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Graduating seniors should visit RMHC for a variety of scholarship opportunities. Applications due by January 20, 2016. California Association of Educational Office Professionals CAEOP provides scholarships of $1,000 to assist students who wish to continue with higher education and pursue a career in business administration or education. Applications are due by December 15th. Visit CAEOP for more information.</p><p>California Association of Collectors CAC This is an essay scholarship for Seniors. Essay subject is “Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Financial Credit During Your College Years”. Entries must be postmarked by January 20, 2016. Visit CAC for more information.</p><p>Elks Lodge Most Valuable Student Scholarships Any high school senior who is a US citizen may apply for a Most Valuable Student Scholarship. Applications will be judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Applications must be submitted on or before December 4th. Visit Elks Lodge for more information.</p><p>WACE National CO-OP Scholarship Program Apply to one of 6 WACE Partner Institutions and the CO-OP Scholarship and be eligible for up to $6,500 per year in awards. Visit SallieMae for more information.</p><p>7. Are You 18? Or will you turn 18 this year? Then you may be eligible to vote! Take part in the greatest of American traditions and exercise your right to have a say in your future. You may register online or stop by the CCC to pick up a Voter Registration form. Young men between the ages of 18 and 25 must register with the Selective Service System. Visit the Selective Service System for more information. 8. Summer Vacation is only 230 days away!
