<p> SECONDARY LITERACY CONFERENCE Submit a Program Proposal – All Subject Areas Welcome! Grades 6-12</p><p>Saturday, November 3, 2012 Tinley Park Convention Center, Tinley Park, IL (I-80 and Harlem Avenue)</p><p>Featured Speakers: Carol Jago, Director, CA Reading & Literature Project, UCLA, will present the keynote address. Gordon Korman, young adult author, will present the luncheon address.</p><p>Attached is a copy of the proposal form, which needs to be returned to Barb Chrz-White by April 15, 2012. </p><p>Presentation Expectations: . One hour in length . Hands-on, interactive sessions requested . Ideas, strategies, templates attendees can use the following week . Handouts for every presentation . LCD projector and screen in each room (presenters provide their own computer) . Relevant for professionals who have an average of ten to twenty years experience</p><p>Perks for presenters: . Conference registration fees waived . Attend breakout sessions as well as keynote and luncheon addresses . Breakfast, snack, and lunch provided to you at no cost . CPDUs for making a presentation and attending the conference</p><p>Please consider submitting a program proposal. “Hot topics” requested by conference attendees are Common Core Standards in all subject areas, strategies for integrating reading/writing in all subject areas, vocabulary and comprehension strategies, literacy coaching, challenges of reading specialists in content area classrooms, engaging reluctant readers, and interactive strategies/activities for literacy in the content class. The average attendee has ten to twenty years of experience, so please plan accordingly. The steering committee’s final selection of proposals will be based on our ability to provide a well-rounded, comprehensive program. Program proposals that promote you, your publications, a company, and/or a product will not be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Barb Chrz-White.
