<p> Maritza Santamaria-Hoffman</p><p>Maritza Santamaria-Hoffman received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Arizona State University and her law degree from California Western School of Law. She has over 18 years experience in healthcare. Ms. Santamaria has worked in the Risk Management and Corporate Compliance departments for large healthcare organizations. She has advised on a wide range of healthcare related issues, including policies and procedures related to the electronic medical record (EMR). </p><p>Ms. Santamaria is currently the Associate Litigation Attorney in the Risk Management Department at Banner Health. Ms. Santamaria is involved in the resolution of medical malpractice claims and litigation for Banner Health and has significant involvement in implementing the EMR throughout Banner Health. She has also developed an eDiscovery Team within Banner Health and is involved in system-wide education the amended Federal and Arizona Rules of Civil procedure, as they related to eDiscovery. Prior to joining the Banner Health’s Risk Management Department in 2004, Ms. Santamaria was an Emergency Department Nurse. </p><p>Ms. Santamaria is a member of the newest Sedona Conference group, which will develop guidelines for eDiscovery in healthcare litigation. </p>
