October 2, 2015 Email re: UNH Classifieds (unh.edu/ads)

Hi Ezra,

Thank you for contacting us and I apologize for not replying to your earlier request for information. We have received several objections about the University’s decision to discontinue the service and we understand your frustration. We have formed a team of stakeholders including staff from Career Services, IT, the MUB and other programs to examine this gap in service and review alternatives.

The software was removed for a few reasons; there was no "service owner" to monitor the content and oversee the website, IT was absorbing the cost of the software, which was in need of costly updating, the website was never closed to the general public and other software services are much more modern and comprehensive. With this service open to the general public and with no oversight, we felt there may be a risk to UNH students.

As a group, the UNH team is reviewing the software uLoop. This software has not been contracted with UNH, but does include some local childcare services.

If a new service is adopted, it will most likely be publicized in the IT news or UNH news. Feel free to contact us again for updates.

Lisa Nugent Web and Mobile Development (603) 862-4513
