Day That Will Go Down in History

DAY THAT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY

I have always had a phobia of flying in an airplane or going into tall buildings. When I thought of planes I thought of plane crashes. When I thought of tall buildings I thought of buildings collapsing.

On September 11, 2001 my phobia became reality. I was sleeping in, because I had to work later that day. My husband woke me up to see the replay of a plane crashing into a building. The building was one of the World Trade Center buildings. We sat and watched the news of what we thought was an accidental plane crash. Soon, we learned it was no accident. As the second tower was hit with an airplane, our hearts dropped in disbelief. We could not understand how this could happen in the

United States of America.

I eventually went to work to find one of my co-workers had been crying. He had a friend on the first flight that crashed into the World Trade Center building. It was hard for us to focus on doing our jobs, in the middle of this world crisis.

We were too busy trying to watch the television in our video department. Some of our customers stopped in the middle of writing a check to watch what the update of this horrible crisis. Later, I went home and watched the television to find the Pentagon was hit. It seemed that the terrorism would never end. I sat wondering how many lives had to be lost. Was this the end? How could someone be this evil? Who could be so evil?

How did the terrorist get the chance to do this? Things like this did not happen in the

United States. We are suppose to be a great country. What happened?

It was days later when I learned actually how many people were killed. I remember the sight of people hanging and jumping out of windows. It brought me to tears to see people jumping out of windows to try to live. Then the reporter said a pregnant woman and kids were killed in the attacks. As he said this, I started crying harder. A mother never got the chance to bring her child into this world. Little children were robbed of the chance to see what life has to offer.

This incident has made me want to spend more time with my children. Tommorow is not promised to us. Our family decided to go to more movies, play more board games, and show each other more love. As we go on to live our lives we know GOD will protect and keep us.

My heart and prayers go out to all the families of the victims of the September 11, attacks.
