<p> FILE: EDAE Cf: IFCB</p><p>STUDENT TRANSPORTATION IN PRIVATE VEHICLES</p><p>When private vehicles are to be used to transport students, such vehicles shall be chosen in advance and approved by the principal or designee. Approval of a vehicle and its driver shall be kept on file at the school site. </p><p>The principal or designee shall review the proof of insurance and keep a copy on file. For the School Board’s benefit, no vehicle shall be used unless it is insured by the owner with a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 liability coverage that must be in force and effect before any use of the vehicle can occur which shall be the first line of defense in the event of an accident. In addition, a photocopy of a valid driver’s license of any approved driver of the vehicle shall be kept on file along with the vehicle approval form.</p><p>The number of students transported in a vehicle is limited to the recommended capacity of the vehicle. Seat belts shall be available for every passenger and each occupant of the vehicle and students shall be instructed that they are required to wear their seat belts while the vehicle is in motion.</p><p>Any student being transported using private vehicles shall have express written permission from his parent or legal guardian to travel in a private vehicle.</p><p>Any parent or legal guardian may personally provide transportation for their individual child or make private arrangements for transportation of their child to and from school-sponsored events except when the student is required by the school to travel with his/her respective team or club on school provided transportation.
