<p>CCF Project Development Worker Job Description</p><p>Hours: P/T 21 hours. Some evening and weekend work will be required Salary: £14,212 per annum (£23,688 FTE) Contract: Fixed term until 31st March 2018 Location: Toryglen Community Base Reporting to: Project Manager Responsible for: Sessional workers, volunteers</p><p>Urban Roots is a thriving environmental and health improvement organisation working across the Southside of Glasgow. This post is funded by the Climate Challenge Fund and is part of our wider Growing Connections project. The role will involve expanding the food growing space at Polmadie Plots, a large community garden in Toryglen, and leading a weekly volunteer group to maintain the site. The Project Development Worker will also be responsible for helping to organise a program of climate friendly cookery courses and community events, setting up a composting system and delivering education sessions with local schools. </p><p>Main Responsibilities 1. Facilitate the delivery of Urban Roots projects and programmes which contribute specifically to environmental improvements and pro-environmental actions. Support the delivery of projects to empower local people to deal with environmental concerns in Toryglen. This may include: - Working with communities, youth groups and schools to engage young people on environmental issues that affect them. - Supporting people and communities to take action on climate change by helping to identify local environmental priorities and implement action plans. - Working with community groups in Toryglen and surrounding areas to develop local sites for local use. 2. Facilitate the training and development of individuals and groups in environmental skills and environmental awareness. 3. Support the delivery of projects to promote healthy food and/or lifestyle by encouraging people to grow their own food and encouraging cycling or walking for health and environmental benefits. 4. Support volunteers, so they receive a valuable experience through Urban Roots, including training, enjoyment and a sense of achievement. 5. To help promote Urban Roots’ profile and achievement within the local area so as to attract new volunteers/learners and raise public awareness of Urban Roots’ programmes and activities. 6. Work closely and in partnership with agencies including Glasgow City Council, local housing associations and others as appropriate. 7. Ensure that all activities adhere to Urban Roots’ policies and procedures; with particular emphasis on health and safety procedures for practical project work. 8. Offer localised, ‘hands on’ and day to day input into delivery as necessary. 9. To check and maintain any resources as allocated. 10. Any other reasonable duties to perform the job role.
