<p> SURFING THE NET EXERCISES</p><p>CHAPTER 5 Office Technology</p><p>Exercise 5-1 The sales representatives of Millennium Appliances, Inc. require a personal digital assistant (PDA) to use when they are out of the office on sales calls. To help them make a selection, research different types of PDA’s and provide a report of your findings to the sales manager.</p><p>A. Connect to the websites of popular Canadian office products and supplies stores, such as Staples Canada, Office Depot Canada, Grand and Toy Canada or other retailers of your choice.</p><p>B. Select the PDA’s tab on the vendors’ web sites and choose three personal digital assistants made by different manufacturers.</p><p>C. Compare the product specifications (details) of the three PDA’s and format them in a table to give to the sales manager. If the prices of the PDA’s are not available online, contact the retailer to obtain them and include them in the table.</p><p>D. Alternatively, you could print the PDA specification lists and give them to the sales manager.</p><p>Exercise 5-2 The office manager has asked you to gather information about buying a computer online.</p><p>A. Connect to a search engine of your choice.</p><p>B. Enter the following key search words: purchase computer online.</p><p>C. Locate information on prices and the hardware and software included in the prices as well as service, support, payment options, and delivery information.</p><p>D. Summarize your information in an email report to the office manager.</p>
