C. Members of the Fleet Reserve Are Not Eligible to Participate in This Program

<p>1. General:</p><p> a. The purpose of this program is to assist individuals obtain their first under graduate or graduate degree by providing financial assistance to active duty and reserve members of the U. S. Navy (and Marine Corps?) by reimbursing them for certain costs associated with seeking their first undergraduate (Associate and/or Bachelor) degree.</p><p> b. Requests for reimbursement under this program must be received not later than 30 days after the semester starts.</p><p> c. Members of the fleet reserve are not eligible to participate in this program.</p><p>2. Eligibility:</p><p> a. All active duty and reserve members of the U. S. Navy who are pursuing their first associate, bachelor or masters degree are eligible to participate in this program. </p><p>3. Reimbursable Items:</p><p> a. The costs of books (text books, lab books and workbooks) and study guides directly related to the course of study may be reimbursed.</p><p>4. Grant Amount:</p><p> a. Reimbursement is capped at $300.00 per individual for the calendar year.</p><p>5. Application Procedure:</p><p> a. To request a grant, the member must:</p><p>(1) Complete all sections of the Grant application.</p><p>(2) Attach a copy of the student’s proof of enrollment, such as a copy of the command approved off-duty tuition assistance form or a certificate of enrollment with current courses listed or a letter from the school.</p><p>(3) Attach a copy of the member’s valid Navy ID card (both sides, clearly visible).</p><p>(4) Attach a copy of the student’s original dated receipts for each item of reimbursement. </p><p> b.
