Find a training that you would like to attend. 2. E-mail the VISTA Leader with the details of the event (brochure, webpage, etc.) and the completed Professional Development Request Form. Wait to receive formal approval. 3. Once approved, register for the event without paying (if possible), indicating that a check will be sent directly to the organization from the Minnesota Literacy Council. 4. Send a copy of the registration confirmation to the VISTA Leader. 5. After the VISTA Leader has received your registration confirmation, the MLC will send payment directly to the organization sponsoring the training within one business week.

*If there is not enough time to complete the above steps before the event, the VISTA can pay for the event and be reimbursed by the MLC, as long as the training is preapproved by the VISTA Leader and the VISTA member has enough remaining professional development funds.

Where to Find Professional Development Opportunities

 Minnesota Literacy Council: www.mnliteracy.org/volunteers/training  MLC VISTA Portal: www.mnliteracy.org/vista/resources  Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN): www.minnesotanonprofits.org  Minnesota Association for Volunteer Administration (MAVA): www.mavanetwork.org  Minnesota Rising: http://www.minnesotarising.org/  Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota (MPM): www.mentoringworks.org  HandsOn Twin Cities: www.handsontwincities.org  MAP for Non-Profits: www.mapfornonprofits.org  Northwest Minnesota Foundation: www.nwmf.org  Pollen: http://www.pollenmidwest.org/  Center for Youth Development: www1.extension.umn.edu/Youth  Nonprofits Assistance Fund: https://nonprofitsassistancefund.org  Volunteer Match: https://www.volunteermatch.org/  CitiZing—Collaborating for the Common Good: www.citizing.org  Science Museum Computer Education Classes: www.comped.smm.org  Saint Paul Public Schools Foundation: http://sppsfoundation.org/what-we-do/tutoring-partnership  Young Nonprofit Professionals Network: http://www.ynpntwincities.org/  Young Education Professionals Network: http://www.youngedprofessionals.org/yep-twin-cities.html  Idealist: www.idealist.org

Edited by Shannon Gatewood 8/2017
