Press Release

MTU Aero Engines reports strong 2015 Paris Air Show results  Orders worth more than 800 million euros

Munich, June 19, 2015 – This year’s International Paris Air Show was a major success for MTU Aero Engines: Germany’s leading engine man- ufacturer has announced orders valued at more than 800 million eu- ros, with the PW1000G family of geared turbofan engines doing par- ticularly well. “What airlines are betting on today is cost- and fuel-effi- cient engines,” says MTU Chief Executive Officer Reiner Winkler. “GTF technology has established itself in the market faster than any other engine technology ever before. With our high market share in pro- grams for short- and medium-range aircraft as well as regional and business jets, we also stand to benefit from the aftermarket business in future,” Winkler continues to explain. The total volume of orders for engines in which MTU has a stake also includes propulsion systems for long-haul airplanes.

For MTU, the geared turbofan (GTF) engines for the Airbus A320neo family ranked top of the list in terms of orders received at the trade show. The largest order came in from carrier Turkish Airlines; taken together with the deals signed by SMBC Aviation Capital, a leading global aircraft leasing company, Korean Air and the China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC), a total of 170 aircraft powered by PurePow- er® PW1100G engines were purchased for the customers’ A320neo fleets. Contract wins were scored also for the PW1900G, the geared turbofan version for the new generation of Embraer’s E-Jets. The South-American aircraft manufacturer took in firm orders for 25 air- craft. The customer in this case is U.S. leasing company Aircastle.

MTU also benefits from business with latest-generation widebody air- craft: Russia’s Volga-Dnepr Group has selected the GEnx engine for 20 Boeing 747-8F freighters. Other new orders were received for the GE9X for the Boeing 777X. Customer Qatar Airways will add another ten of the Boeing long-range aircraft to its fleet and has placed a firm order for the GE9X engines to power them.

MTU Aero Engines AG Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Dachauer Straße 665 80995 München • Germany Tel +49 (0)89 14 89-26 98 Fax +49 (0)89 14 89-87 57 www.mtu.de Demand for the engine powering the current A320 family of aircraft, IAE’s V2500, continued to be strong at the Paris Air Show.
