According to the VHA, the facility will sustain approximately 450 new full-time jobs once fully operational, representing an annual salary expenditure of over $30 million.

“We have a lot of work to do to provide adequate funding and care for our veterans,” said Senator Specter. “This facility will improve the Veterans Health Administration’s business processes and increase the quality of care provided to the men and women who have served our country. At a time when unemployment rates are rising, I am pleased that Lebanon will gain an important source of jobs for the local economy.”

“This is great news for our veterans who have served our county with honor and also the city of Lebanon,” said Senator Casey. “The announcement today by the Veterans Health Administration means many new jobs and economic growth in an area that has faced tough economic times. It also means that the billing process will be more streamlined and ensure that our veterans will receive effective and efficient care. The tireless efforts of the men and women of the VA, particularly those in VISN 4 and our Pennsylvania hospitals and offices, have made this new Patient Account Center a possibility. I want to thank the VA for their work on this important issue and look forward to working with them in the future to ensure our veterans get the best possible care.”

According to the VHA, the North East CPAC will provide revenue functions, including insurance verification, billing, accounts receivable management, and cash management for all VHA treatment locations in the Northeastern United States as mandated by the Veterans' Mental Health and Other Care Improvements Act of 2008.

The selected site, located on the campus of the Lebanon VAMC, will undergo renovations to create a 60,000 square-foot state-of-the-art facility. VHA expects construction to begin in October 2009 with the facility becoming operational in 2011.

# # #
