<p> 10th Grade Independent Reading Assignment</p><p>This year you will be required to read independently. You will choose one book per marking period (MPD’s 1/2 – 4).</p><p>Choose a book that is approximately 150 pages or longer. (Show it to me for approval.)</p><p>Step 2: Read the book. Bring the book to class with you every day. You will be given time to read after tests and sometimes during class.</p><p>Step 3: Complete the weekly reading log. You should record the date, unknown vocabulary words and definitions, pages read, literary devices used: examples, and a brief summary of what you read that week. Hand it in every Friday for grading.</p><p>Step 4: At the end of the marking period -take an assessment on the book at the end of the marking period.</p><p>Step 5: At the end of the year -complete the project. Create a power point presentation on one of the books you read. The presentation will be divided into six parts of information: 1) author biography, 2) historical context, 3) culture, 4) plot summary, 5) Top 5 reasons to read the book, and 6) sources. </p><p>Each slide should have at least 5 bullet points. You must get your facts from credible sources, like an encyclopedia (NOT WIKIPEDIA), to reveal any exaggerations or emphasis to real life connections. Presentation Time limit:3 to 5 minutes</p>
